BULLET IN THE BRAIN
DONALD CAMMELL & NIC ROEG'S "PERFORMANCE"

PERFORMANCE (1968) is the revolutionary 60s classic that merged ultra-violence, nudity and softcore sex, cross-gender blurring, psychotropic drug abuse, personality disintegration, and the seedy underbelly of gangland London – all intertwined with esoteric literary references to Borges, Burroughs, Crowley, Genet and Gysin, and cut and edited using sophisticated montage and time-jump effects which only added to its initial hostile reception.

BULLET IN THE BRAIN provides a detailed overview of this controversial classic – in particular its status as the ultimate trip film – accompanied by over 40 rarely-seen publicity photographs, plus full production details, and a complete, illustrated Rolling Stones chronology (including recording sessions, film projects and drug busts) for 1968, the year of the film’s production. With over 70 images in total, 12 in full colour.
